The Situation

House of Layth is a Toronto-based interior design studio known for creating sophisticated spaces that combine contemporary aesthetics with timeless elegance.

At the time Digitally Marketed™ began working with House of Layth, the quality of the company’s design work was not fully reflected in its online search visibility. The website had valuable design content and a strong portfolio, but it was not receiving the level of organic search traffic or visibility that its expertise could support.

The opportunity was clear: rather than changing the website itself, the focus was on improving how the existing website could be discovered through search engines, attracting more relevant visitors, and strengthening the authority of the House of Layth brand online.

Digital Landscape Challenges

  • Limited Organic Visibility: House of Layth was not achieving the search visibility it could have for relevant interior design and decor queries.
  • Low Organic Traffic: Valuable website content was not generating the level of search-driven traffic needed to consistently reach potential clients.
  • Keyword Opportunities: The existing content contained opportunities to better target relevant interior design, decor, and Toronto-based search terms.
  • Content Visibility: Design insights, portfolio content, and industry-related information needed stronger SEO targeting to improve their discoverability.
  • Online Authority: The brand needed stronger external signals and relevant online visibility to support its authority within the interior design space.
  • Pinterest Opportunity: Because interior design is highly visual, Pinterest presented an additional opportunity to generate discovery and traffic through properly optimized content and keyword targeting.

Our SEO Strategy

Digitally Marketed™ focused the project entirely on SEO, organic traffic growth, search visibility, and online authority. The existing House of Layth website design was not redesigned or rebuilt as part of this project.

  • SEO Keyword Strategy: We researched relevant search terms connected to interior design, decor, design services, and the Toronto market. These keywords were used to identify opportunities for improving the visibility of the existing website content.
  • On-Page SEO: Existing website content was optimized around relevant keywords and search intent. Page content, headings, metadata, and image alt text were reviewed and improved to help search engines better understand the website and its services.
  • Organic Traffic Growth: The SEO strategy was designed to attract more relevant visitors through organic search rather than relying solely on paid advertising. The focus was on connecting House of Layth with people actively searching for interior design and decor information and services.
  • Content Strategy: Existing content and future content opportunities were aligned with relevant search topics, including interior design trends, design ideas, educational content, and industry-related subjects. This created additional opportunities for the brand to be discovered through search.
  • Authority Building: We worked on strengthening the online authority of House of Layth through relevant external opportunities, industry connections, backlinks, and increased visibility across platforms related to interior design and decor.
  • Pinterest SEO Upgrade: As an additional value to the client, Digitally Marketed™ provided a complimentary Pinterest profile upgrade. The profile was optimized using relevant SEO keywords and a strategy designed to improve Pinterest discoverability and create another potential source of organic traffic.
  • SEO Analytics & Monitoring: Tools including Google Analytics and SEMrush were used to monitor organic performance, search visibility, traffic, and user behaviour. This information helped guide and refine the SEO strategy.

The Result

The SEO work focused on improving keyword visibility, increasing organic traffic opportunities, strengthening online authority, and making the brand’s existing content more discoverable. The additional Pinterest SEO upgrade also gave House of Layth another optimized channel through which its visual content could reach potential audiences.

Rather than changing the website’s design, the project focused on improving the visibility and discoverability of the website that was already in place. This allowed House of Layth to build a stronger digital presence around its existing brand, portfolio, and expertise.

The Impact

House of Layth gained a more structured SEO foundation focused on attracting relevant organic traffic and increasing its visibility within the interior design and decor space.

The project demonstrates that digital growth does not always require rebuilding a website. In many cases, a strong SEO strategy, targeted content, authority building, and properly optimized external platforms can help an established brand reach more of the people already searching for its services.

House of Layth SEO transformation showing improved search visibility and organic traffic

THE SITUATION

In the digital sphere, even the most esteemed brands can encounter visibility challenges, and House of Layth was no exception. Despite their unparalleled expertise in decor design, their digital metrics indicated a disparity. Their online positioning in key search queries did not reflect their industry leadership. This digital misalignment was leading to missed opportunities in attracting potential clientele and collaborators. Furthermore, the digital content, rich with design insights and trends, was not gaining the traction or engagement it merited, indicating a potential misalignment in its digital strategy.

THE SOLUTION

To address this, House of Layth embarked on a rigorous digital overhaul:
  • Technical SEO: A deep dive into their website’s architecture revealed areas of improvement. Speed optimization techniques, including browser caching and image compression, were employed. Canonical tags were used to prevent duplicate content issues, and a mobile-responsive design was implemented to cater to the growing mobile user base.
  • On-Page SEO: Each webpage was optimized with decor-centric keywords after a meticulous keyword research process. Alt tags for images, which are crucial for a decor design firm, were optimized to improve image search rankings.
  • Off-Page SEO: Strategic partnerships were forged with decor bloggers, influencers, and industry websites to build high-quality backlinks. Guest posts and features on renowned decor platforms further bolstered their domain authority.
  • Content Strategy: A content calendar, focusing on decor trends, design tutorials, and case studies, was rolled out. This not only showcased their expertise but also catered to the informational needs of their target audience.
  • Analytics and Tools: Platforms like Google Analytics and SEMrush were employed to monitor website performance, track user behaviour, and refine SEO strategies based on real-time data.

THE EXPECTED OUTCOME

With these technical and strategic initiatives in place, House of Layth is poised to reclaim its rightful digital space. Preliminary data indicates a surge in organic traffic, improved bounce rates, and enhanced user engagement. As these strategies mature, House of Layth is expected to become not just a decor design authority in the physical realm but also a dominant digital decor voice in Toronto and beyond.
